A backyard fire feature is only as good as the gas system feeding it. We got called in on this one to handle both the outdoor gas line hookup to a built-in fire pit and some interior repair work that needed attention before anything could safely run. Two separate scopes, one crew, done right.
Here's what we were working with on the interior side - heavily corroded pipes tucked inside a concrete chase, with old tape-wrapped fittings that had clearly been there for a long time. That level of rust and deterioration isn't something you patch over. We pulled the compromised sections and replaced them properly, using solid black iron fittings and flexible CSST yellow gas connector lines rated for this type of application.
The outdoor fire pit itself is a clean, modern built-in unit set into a concrete surround with a stainless steel firebox and lava rock media. Getting gas to it meant routing new line through a tight access area beneath the steel grate frame, connecting through properly fitted elbow joints, and making sure everything was secured and leak-free before the burner assembly went back in. Gas work around fire features has zero margin for error, and we treat it that way every time.
What a lot of homeowners don't realize is that outdoor fireplaces and fire pits have the same safety requirements as any other gas appliance - proper connectors, correct fittings, pressure testing, the whole thing. Cutting corners on any of it is how you end up with a real problem. We bring the same standards to a backyard fire pit that we would to any interior gas line job.
Whether you've got an existing feature that's never worked quite right, aging connections that need to be replaced, or a new install that needs gas run to it - this is the kind of work we do every day. Honest assessment, solid materials, and no shortcuts.
